Chef Mark and his team have been working hard to enhance our catering provision, making sure that our children are served with a nutritious and delicious meal each day. Due to this level of commitment and the team’s hard work there has been a huge increase in the number of children that have a hot meal. A staggering 85% of children at Grampian have a hot meal each day. This is well above the national average of 43%. I am sure you will join me in congratulating and thanking Chef Mark and his team for their amazing efforts. In school we have noticed a difference in concentration and behaviour. Studies prove that good nutrition support this behaviour. We are now seeing that we are rewarding more rocks and stars in an afternoon as the children are settled and engaged in their learning. A nutritious meal each day is very important and we would encourage all children to have a school meal where possible. Menus are sent home each term and copies are available from the office. It is important that these are completed and returned to ensure the children have the meal of their choice. If a menu is not completed and returned then the vegetarian option will be served. Can we please remind parents that Halal meat is not served, however there are four options of meals on the menu each day which means that all religious persuasions are catered for.  Please see the latest copy of the menu below:
