We are seeking to recruit a Graduate Learning Mentor who has the skills to create a bond with disadvantaged pupils and provide the necessary support to get the best from each individual child. The successful candidate will be a career-minded graduate who has at least received a 2:1 in their degree. The ideal candidate will have a real passion for education and commitment for overcoming the barriers to social mobility.  They will have experience of working with children who present with challenging or complex needs and those who may struggle to regulate their behaviour. The school are seeking a candidate who is able to demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and possess a creative passion for education.


The new Graduate Learning Mentor will be one member of a team of staff who will work together to ensure that specific disadvantaged children achieve their full potential.  The new Graduate Learning Mentor will provide personalised support for targeted pupils to meet their social, emotional, behavioural or mental health needs – this may be in small groups or on a one to one basis.  In addition to targeted 1:1 mentoring and group intervention, the candidate may also support teaching and learning under the direction of the class teacher for individual or groups of children.


The job of the Graduate Learning Mentor is to work with children in receipt of the Pupil Premium. The successful candidate will work with specific disadvantaged children to set targets and promote a course of action that means that children may overcome any barriers to learning and fulfil their potential.  Barriers to learning may include (not exclusively):


·         Significant and consistent underachievement

·         Poor behaviour or difficulties in anger management

·         Failing motivation, confidence or self-esteem

·         Loss, bereavement or parental break-up

·         Difficulties in concentration or maintaining focus

·         Poor attendance and/or punctuality

·         Difficulties in maintaining relationships with peers or adults

·         Poor personal organisational skills.

The Headteacher and Governors would like to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and caring Midday Supervisor to join our midday team, as soon as possible.


Duties will include,

·         Management and support of pupils whilst eating their midday meal,

·         The management and support of the school meal wristband/pre-order system,

·         To assist in the supervision and running of activities during the midday break, including setting out and storing equipment,

·         Encouraging pupils to eat healthy balanced meals,

·         To organise pupils play activities either outside or in the classroom,

·         Some cleaning duties.
